Organic products are cultivated under a system of agriculture by avoiding the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and growth regulators with an environmentally and socially responsible approach. This is a method of farming that aims at preserving the reproductive and regenerative capacity of the soil, good plant nutrition, and sound soil management, which has resistance to pest and diseases.
Inspection, a key activity in the certification process, is carried out by an independent third party / agency to verify the compliance of organic standard for the entire farm activity of the farmers every year. Proper documentation procedures and guidelines are followed by producers, farmer groups and service providers. Organic produce is certified mainly to establish uniform certification standards because certification standards assure customers of the authenticity of the product as well as protect legitimate organic producers.
Training programmes are organized for the farmers on certification process and methodology to be adopted as per the NPOP standard. All the farmer members have pledged to grow crops using organic methods and follow all the systems required for Organic Certification.
